The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend is a limited edition blended Scotch whisky created by Master Blender Dr Emma Walker for India’s festive season. Unlike last year’s Rahul Mishra collaboration, which dressed Blue Label in a new design, this is a new blend, built to sit alongside Indian cuisine with notes of cardamom, saffron, rosewater and a wisp of smoke. It is bottled at 40.8% ABV, and in the US it lists at around $238 for 750ml. Designer Rahul Mishra returns for a second year on the bottle and gift box.
Last year Johnnie Walker gave Blue Label a new outfit for Diwali. This year Dr Emma Walker has changed what is inside the bottle as well.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend, announced on 29 September 2026, is a limited edition blend created specifically for India’s festive season and designed to be drunk with Indian food. It marks the second year of Johnnie Walker’s partnership with Indian couturier Rahul Mishra, and it is the first time the collaboration has come with its own liquid rather than a special pack around the core Blue Label.

A blend designed around Indian cuisine
The brief behind the Indian Festive Blend is unusually specific. According to Johnnie Walker, Dr Emma Walker set out to create a whisky that complements the richness of Indian food, where spice, sweetness and aromatics are held in balance on the same plate.
“I was captivated by the artistry of Indian cuisine, the way chefs balance bold spice with harmony, elegance and depth,” she says. “By layering aromatic notes of cardamom, clove and cinnamon with smooth sweetness and our signature depth of flavour, we’ve created a whisky that complements the richness of India’s festive table while remaining unmistakably Johnnie Walker Blue Label.”
That is a brief we understand well. At TDW we love Indian food with whisky. Spice-led cooking brings out sides of a dram that a quieter plate rarely touches: cardamom and clove pick up the spice in the cask, heat pushes the sweetness forward, and a touch of smoke has something to lean against.
As with every Blue Label, the blend draws on Johnnie Walker’s reserve of more than 10 million maturing casks, of which the brand says only one in every 10,000 has the depth of flavour Blue Label requires. US retail listings name Port Dundas, Clynelish, Blair Athol and Talisker among the whiskies in the blend. Port Dundas, a Glasgow grain distillery that closed in 2010, is exactly the kind of increasingly rare stock that gives Blue Label its reputation.

From Blue Label with a new label to a new Blue Label
The first Rahul Mishra edition in 2025 was a design release. Mishra wrapped Blue Label in blooming flowers, animals native to India and a festive night sky, and it sold in select markets globally at around £225 for 70cl.
We saw that bottle in person on our visit to the Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh, where it stood out immediately among the flagship’s displays. Mishra’s work on the 2026 edition follows the same language, with a mandala-like burst of leaves, chillies, cardamom pods and figs in pink, teal and gold across a deep blue bottle, and the Striding Man hidden at the centre.
The bigger shift is that Johnnie Walker is now pairing the design with its own blend. It is not the first time Blue Label has been shaped around food. We tasted Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami, created for umami-rich cuisine, alongside Korean food in Copenhagen, and it showed how well Blue Label’s soft, layered style can work at the table rather than only after dinner. The Indian Festive Blend takes the same idea to a different kitchen.
Mishra describes the collaboration in terms of meaning rather than luxury for its own sake: “The festive season in India is deeply rooted in emotion, generosity and togetherness. For me, true luxury carries meaning, preserving craftsmanship while creating lasting memories.”
The launch also opens a wider festive campaign running through the coming months, with experiences, activations and curated celebrations around whisky, Indian culture and design.
Who is Johnnie Walker and where does Blue Label fit?
Johnnie Walker is the world’s best-selling Scotch whisky brand, owned by Diageo and sold in more than 160 countries. The range runs from Red Label and Black Label through Gold Label Reserve to Blue Label, the top of the core line-up.
Blue Label is a no-age-statement blend of malt and grain whiskies, some of them from distilleries that no longer exist. Its style is layered and rounded rather than bold, which is why it has become the brand’s canvas for limited editions and food-led blends.
Dr Emma Walker became Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender in 2021, the first woman in the role. The Indian Festive Blend is one of her most tightly defined briefs yet: a whisky judged partly by how it performs next to a plate.
Price and availability
Johnnie Walker presents the Indian Festive Blend as a release for India’s festive season, but the bottle is not India-only. The US edition carries a 750ml, 40.8% ABV label, and US retailers list it at around $238. Johnnie Walker has not published an official RRP, a bottle count or a list of markets.
For European readers, the 2025 Rahul Mishra edition reached UK specialists such as The Whisky Exchange and The Whisky Shop at around £225, so a similar route is likely, though not confirmed. We will update this article when UK and European availability is announced.
Is it worth it?
We cannot give a verdict on the liquid until we have tasted it. What we can say is that this is a more interesting release than last year’s. A limited Blue Label pack is a gift. A limited Blue Label blend designed around cardamom, saffron and rosewater is a whisky with an idea behind it.
If you collect the Rahul Mishra series, this is the one to own, because it is the first with its own liquid. If you want to try Blue Label at its most food-friendly, plan the bottle around a proper Indian meal rather than a digestif. And if you already love Indian whisky, it is worth tasting next to the Rampur Jugalbandi series or Indri to see how a Scotch blender approaches the same table.
