Who is Lochlea, and why grain-to-cask matters
Lochlea started as a 222-acre livestock farm. Neil and Jen McGeoch bought it in 2006, ran a successful trial growing their own barley in 2015, and turned the land and farm buildings into a working distillery in 2017, with spirit running from 2018.
The farming side never went away, and that is the whole point. By growing its own barley on-site, Lochlea became one of the very few fully grain-to-cask distilleries in Scotland, meaning every stage from field to bottle happens on the same Ayrshire ground.
