Monkey Shoulder, the Speyside blended malt from William Grant & Sons, has named British musician Fred again.. as its first ever creative partner. It is a three-year global agreement, and the first thing it produces is not a bottle. It is a tour.

Fred again.. will play his debut shows in India this December, his only live dates of 2026 and his first live performances since Italy in September 2025. The whisky brand is positioned as the partner that brought the tour to market, with ticket pricing as the headline.

He plays Leisure Valley Ground in Delhi NCR on 5 December, Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on 9 December, and NICE Grounds in Bengaluru on 13 December. Tickets go on sale on 30 June to fans who have signed up.

What Monkey Shoulder and Fred again.. actually announced

The headline is the relationship, not a product. Monkey Shoulder has made Fred again.. its first creative partner and framed the India run as the opening move in a three-year, global partnership. In the brand’s own words, the belief behind it is that great drinks, great music and great people should be for everyone.

There is no Monkey Shoulder x Fred again.. whisky, no limited edition and no cask announcement attached to this news. What has been confirmed is a series of experiences over three years, beginning with live music in India. The brand has said the partnership will extend across further creative projects, but the detail beyond the tour has not been released.

For a whisky audience, the interesting part is the model. This is a Speyside malt brand putting its name on a touring artist rather than a festival activation or a single sponsored event.

The India tour: dates, venues and tickets

These are full live shows, not DJ sets, drawing on material from the early Actual Life records through to Fred’s ongoing USB project.

Why a whisky brand is backing a music tour

Drinks brands and music are not new, but the structure here is worth noting. Rather than a one-off sponsorship, Monkey Shoulder has tied itself to an artist for three years and led the announcement with affordability rather than exclusivity.

That fits the brand’s positioning. Monkey Shoulder has always sat in bar culture and the cocktail world rather than the collector’s cabinet, and an experiential, music-led partnership reaches a younger, going-out audience that does not always start with single malt. Whether that converts into whisky drinkers is the open question, and the one to watch as the three years play out.

Who, or what, is Monkey Shoulder

Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt Scotch whisky made by William Grant & Sons from three Speyside single malts. It is bottled at 40% ABV and built for mixing, which is why it turns up behind so many cocktail bars rather than in tasting flights.

The name refers to a real condition once suffered by maltmen who turned barley by hand on the malting floor, which strained the shoulder. The brand describes the liquid as carrying vanilla, orange and spice. As a house style it is approachable and mixer-friendly rather than challenging, and that accessibility is the thread running through this partnership.

Who is Fred again..

Fred again.. is Frederick John Philip Gibson, a British producer, songwriter and DJ known for building tracks around voice notes, personal stories and real-life moments. He came to wider attention with the Actual Life series and has since run the USB project, with USB002 arriving in December 2025.

He is a Grammy winner, took the Dance Act award at the 2026 BRITs, and earlier this year completed a residency at London’s Alexandra Palace as part of the USB002 tour. The India dates were teased with cryptic front-page newspaper advertisements carrying the word “again” in regional languages before the official reveal.

What we make of it

For a whisky publication, the honest read is that this is a brand and marketing story first and a whisky story second, at least for now. There is nothing to taste, nothing to buy on a shelf, and the actual liquid is unchanged.

What makes it worth covering is the shift in approach. A Speyside malt owner committing to a three-year artist partnership, and leading with accessible ticket pricing in a fast-growing live market like India, is a deliberate bet on experience and reach over scarcity. If you collect, this changes nothing today. If you are interested in where whisky brands are spending their attention, it is a clear signal.

The thing to watch is whether year two or three brings an actual release. For now, the only way to engage with the partnership is to be in Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru in December.
